George’s Chrysanths

Just wanted to post a picture of my Grandad’s chrysanths, grown on each year from cuttings taken from his garden when he died 22 years ago. I have no idea of the variety and it doesn’t really matter. I just call them ‘George’. They seem to get better every year. Thanks George!

  1. Hi Christina and thanks for the comment.
I am new to blogging and enjoy it very much. I tend to write for an imaginary reader and it always takes me by surprise when somebody actually comments, especially from Italy!
The chrysanths are a constant reminder of my wonderful Grandad. It feels like he is in the garden with me. We even have a chat now and again – I talk – he listens!
I like your blog very much and aspire to be as good as you one day.
    Best wishes
    David

  2. My Grandad also was a fantastic gardener, in fact his garden was a showpiece and as children my brother and I were never allowed to play there. By comparison our grand kids all make dens, prune, dig, pick produce and feed hens and treat the garden as general living space which I think is so much nicer. Your Grandad’s legacy is to be really envied though and a real testament to your gardening skills. Just love these gorgeous blooms and the wonderful story.
